No Alone-Time TV - Day 5
It's been a few days since my last update, as I have found I cannot update my blog from my laptop (which is a bit distressing), but I've stayed true to the only television hitting my eyes has done so in a group setting with college basketball on the screen. Now with the better part of a week behind me, I am really starting to see the kinds of changes I can only hope are going to be long-lasting ones.
I am still studying my way through the Old Testament as an extra-cirricular to my everyday quiet times, and have reaped fruits already, as truths and examples have already leapt off the pages to ring continuously in my mind. These truths have already made their way into my interactions with the students in Sunday school as well!! Yesterday, we were talking about deception and specifically the deception where Satan wants you to believe that you can be your own God (Transcendantalism). Immediately, I was brought back to the Garden of Eden, where this was the precise tactic the serpent used against Eve. It was amazing to have such a well-known example of the topic which we were discussing.
I'm learning everyday that the oldest parts of the Bible are more relevant than ever. In addition, I'm learning that the Old Testament is a lot more exciting than I ever thought before. I haven't gotten there in my study, but I'm looking forward to the soap opera that is David's life and the action sequence that is Samson's battle with 1,000 Philistines. Who ever thought turning off the TV would really open my eyes to entertainment??
In Love, In Christ,
Bob
