The Next Step
Well, it is now official. As of Sunday, May 6, 2007, I have been congregationally approved for another year at Grace Church. Starting on June 1, Kyle Pierpont and I will be on salary for at least 12 months. I am quite excited about such an awesome ministry opportunity. Along with the excitement though, I feel a very strong conviction to grow individually and in this ministry.
One of the areas I see a huge need for this kind of growth is in that of outreach. Let's call a spade a spade, I may be good at proclaiming the power of Christ, but I am not very good at challenging people in a one-on-one environment to make change in their life. On top of that, I am not going to get any better at this if I'm working on my "outreach skills." Skills have nothing to do with people coming to know the Lord. If I'm going to get better at outreach, I need to get better at two things:
1) My personal devotion to scripture, and
2) My boldness and level of caring about "kingdom expansion."
It's time for Kyle, myself, and the Grace Church Youth ministry to devote ourselves to improving these two areas. I cannot speak for Kyle, and I don't want to, because I'm sure he's better at this than I am, but I need to be ready to bat when I step up to the plate when it comes to outreach. And when that opportunity comes, when that pitch is thrown, I need to have the courage and direction to take a swing and deliver the gospel.
We have Good News, brothers and sisters. We have THE Good News. It is my desire to share it to the people who aren't tuned in to the same broadcast. Let's do it!
In Love,
Bob
